The Oliver Furniture Mini+ House Bed: A Beautiful Beginning for Big Imaginations
3 Min Read
I’m Sian, a 43 year old primary teacher from Snowdonia in North Wales. I live in a small rural village with my husband, and three boys. I got into content creation totally by chance. It was the beginning of Covid and we were stuck in the house for a good few days isolating. To pass the time, I started my little Insta account documenting all the changes we’d made since buying and renovating our little dormer bungalow.
Fast forward a few years and along came baby Noa 💙. My account naturally evolved to feature more lifestyle and baby content because of this, and the rest is history.

I absolutely love the Little Dutch collection. Their wooden toys are absolutely perfect. They’re educational, made from natural products, robust and well made, and best of all, they’re very aesthetically pleasing 🤍
I love the fact that the toys are grouped in little themes or collections so that they all match and complement each other. Living in the countryside and growing up on a farm, I just had to go with the ‘Little Farm’ collection which is just the cutest 🚜🐄🐷🐑🥕.
They have such a wide and varied range of toys and products in every collection from large toys that develop physical skills such as baby walkers and activity tables, to smaller education toys that develop their cognitive skills and creativity, to the cutest everyday essentials such as backpacks, lunchboxes and water bottles.
I would describe our home aesthetic as modern country rustic. It’s neutral, light and airy with warm muted creams and greens. It’s furnished with natural wood furniture, and decorated with neutral, timeless decor pieces of various tones and textures. I’m not a fan of bright colours, and to this purpose, the muted pastel colours and natural wood of the Little Dutch toys fit in perfectly with our calm, neutral aesthetic.

Hmmmmm, this is a difficult one. Off the top of my head I would say food and portable toys 🙈. If we’re out and about, shopping, waiting on something, or on a long car journey and the boys are getting cranky, some snacks and a couple of small portable toys always seems to do the trick for us 💙
Oh, and another resource I couldn’t have done without is a good quality baby carrier. I used this so much for the first year with the boys for off the beaten track family walks, shopping, cooking and cleaning, it was fab as I could always keep baby close.
Play time just happens naturally as and when in our home. The older boys are quite creative and love to create their own adventures all over the house and garden. The favourite at the moment is their take on Jurassic World 🦖🦕.
Baby Noa is so inquisitive and loves to explore whatever toy he can get his hands on. He loves to whizz around the house with his Little Farm baby walker, and explore all the different activities on his activity table from the same range.
When we have a quiet moment and the older boys are at school, we’ll go to his nursery and get some of his other toys out - his little train that he loves to build and take apart and his little farm shape sorter that he loves opening and closing the barn doors and tip all the shapes out.
Other times Noa will just pick up one of his older brothers toy cars and emulate them by pushing the car around making brmmm brrrmmm noises 💙🚘.
I find inspiration for different aspects of home life from a whole load of different sources.
I must admit that most of my home inspiration comes from following interior and home decor accounts on Instagram.
For play ideas I just kind of roll with it to be honest. For indoor play, I do believe less is more when it comes to toys, so I would rather invest in a few quality pieces than dozens of loud flashy plastic toys. Soft toys or character toys are a great way of letting your little ones creative side shine and let their imaginations run wild.
Sometimes however, be it inside or out, it’s great to play with no toys at all, just a little imagination and letting them run free.
We hope Sian's story inspires you to find natural play in the everyday, from open-ended exploration to the exciting outdoor adventures!
