Meet Sophie the creator behind @sophiesomay, a member of the PlayFaire community who shares a beautiful glimpse into family life from her home in the Midlands. Living with her husband and two young children, much of what she creates online is inspired by the life they are building together one rooted in family, creativity and a deep love for home.
What began as a simple way to document their home and the early years of motherhood soon grew into something far more meaningful. Today, her space online is a thoughtful reflection of everyday family life, where carefully designed children’s spaces sit alongside the small, personal details that make a house feel truly lived in and loved.
Through her content, she hopes to inspire other parents to create homes that feel both beautiful and functional spaces filled with warmth, creativity and the gentle rhythm of real family living.

How has becoming a parent shaped your view of play and childhood?
Becoming a parent has made me far more intentional about the environment my children grow up in. I see childhood as something to be protected and enjoyed rather than rushed through.
Play in our home is centred around imagination and independence. I want my children to feel free to explore, create and tell their own stories. The toys we choose are ones that support that sense of creativity while helping our home remain calm and considered.

How do you make your home work for both children and adults?
I have always believed that family homes should support everyone who lives in them. Children’s items do not need to feel separate from the overall style of a space.
I focus on choosing pieces that are practical but still visually thoughtful. Toys that can remain on display, furniture that adapts as our family grows, and rooms that feel welcoming without being overstimulating. I want my children to see that their presence is reflected in our home while still creating an environment that feels calm for all of us.

What’s your favourite PlayFaire toy or collection, and how does it encourage the kind of play you value most?
The Little Dutch Dolls House stands out to me because it encourages storytelling without directing it. My children return to it again and again, each time engaging with it differently.
I am drawn to toys that support development through creativity rather than overwhelm with noise or excess. Pieces like this allow play to unfold naturally while becoming part of the everyday moments that shape childhood.

Where do you find inspiration for your home, play ideas, or parenting style?
I am inspired by homes that feel lived in and layered with meaning. Nature, travel, classic children’s books and beautifully designed interiors all influence the way I approach our space.
More than anything, I am guided by the idea that environment shapes experience. When children grow up in surroundings that feel secure, expressive and cared for, it gives them a strong foundation.
If you could describe your family in three words, what would they be?
